An Old Timer in the Flower Garden

This rose was first introduced in 1868 and a marvelous climber or rambler it is. With burgundy-purpleish new growth canes adding beauty to the deep rose pink blossoms and dark green leaves, the Zephirine Drouhin Rose is perfect for the arch over high traffic areas. The fact the canes are almost thorn free makes it doubly delightful in such an area.

The Zephirine Drouhin blooms all season with roses full of the strong rich old rose perfume. The flowers are 3.5 to 4 inches and the mature height of this climber is 8 to 12 feet. It grows in zones 5 - 9 and has good disease resistance. This lovely rose will prosper in alkaline soil, pollution and shade although it is susceptible to black spot and mildew in some areas.
