A Wild Rose for the Flower Garden

Betty Prior Rose is not exactly a wild rose though it could be taken for one. It produces pink flowers that may make you think of a dogwood rather than a rose but the strong rose fragrance will assure you quickly.

This is one of the most popular roses in the US as it has been around since 1935. You may see it at an old church or abandoned homestead or even at some of the older homes in your area if you live in zones 4 to 9. Betty Prior Rose is very cold hardy which has helped it to survive well. As it is a repeat bloomer you will have roses throughout the growing season.

How tall this rose bush will get seems to vary from 4 feet up to 7. This would make it great as a boundary marker or as a hedge.
