Wild Flower Garden ArticlesAs lovely as domesticated flowers are, sometimes it just seems there is nothing that can compare to a wildflower. Whether it's a trillium hidden in the woods or an endless ocean of prairie wildflowers nodding their heads in the spring winds that sweep down the plains, there's nothing quite like a wildflower. I have to admit I love seeing the columbines that grow wild on our place in the mountains and even the simple beauty of a wild strawberry flower. The wild irises are always a treat as well. My mountains can become quite an enticing floral retreat. We are blessed that many of our beloved domesticated flowers had their beginnings in some timid wildflower that through selective breeding and careful nurturing morphs into a lovely garden addition. Indeed, some plants we consider wildflowers are beloved garden flowers in other parts of the world and vice versa. So what could be better than to learn about the origins of some of the wildflowers that grace our world. The article listing to the right contains information about wildflowers, mostly as considered from an American perspective. You will also find some wild flower gardening tips to help you if you should decide to incorporate some of the history of gardening into your own special flower garden through the planting of wildflowers. © 2008, Sandra Dinkins-Wilson
